HIDDEN TREASURE PROJECT is a series of conceptual and site-specific dance performances. The works aim to utilize different cultural locations, spaces and rooms that inhabit one or several particular qualities. The aim is to amplify these qualities through the medium of dance and other performative arts, and thus inviting audiences into experiencing the space anew. The space can be well- or less known to the public eye, and the performances present conceptual and interactive meetings between the location, the performer and the audience.
HIDDEN TREASURE PROJECT - Emanuel Vigelands Museum is the first performance in the series, premiered in the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in august of 2019.
The work enhances a sensuous and kinesthetic encounter with Emanuel Vigelands Mausoleum, it's dark and gloomy layout, 800 sq m fresco, and its massive relationship to sound with the room’s 20 second sound delay. The audience is given a break in time and space to be led through the small and heavy iron door, into this hidden treasure of a museum in Oslo. Space, motion, sound and voice are juxtaposed, enhancing the atmosphere and distinctiveness of the room. Through interaction and moving the audience in addition to manipulation of the senses, a moment is created in which we can let ourselves give in to the space. Can we meet ourselves anew upon leaving the room? Perhaps ever so slightly different than when we entered?
